(Trafalgar Square, London, 3rd-6th August, 2006)
"NITRO's Mas Carib was one of the most engaging projects I have participated in this year. Four concerts were staged in London's Trafalgar Square from the 3rd-6th August 2006.
The work tells the story of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora from slavery's beginning until the 1950's arrival on the Windrush.
The three weeks leading up to this were consumed by intense preparation - my role as band musical director involved bringing Felix Cross' wonderful composition to life in the most powerful way possible.
In the band was an exciting mix of the best Latin, Afro-Caribbean and Jazz musicians in the UK. Added to this were sixteen excellent operatic singers - a sound I won't forget for a long time ...."
